Some encouraging news from the Operation Rudolph assembly line - things are going so well!

  • Over 200 volunteers from different churches and other groups will be involved over the next two days in assembly and delivery of 400 quality hampers!
  • These quality hampers are worth nearly £60 each, though have cost around £28 to assemble (it has cost more than we thought)
  • A staggering £13000 has been donated so far (mostly via local churches) which should cover the costs. Any money left over well help prime the pump for 2009.
  • Special Christmas cards have been produced and signed by volunteers, and a free Hollywood Bowl bowling voucher thrown in
  • Though very few companies this time round donated money or goods (although we got some good deals at ASDA, John Lewis) to fill the hampers with; the good news is they are already talking about doing so next year

The mission is this...
...to make 400 Christmas hampers full of goodies, and distribute these to the families and individuals most in need in our town and bring some unexpected joy this Christmas.

Operation Rudolph has been operating out of the churches in Nottingham for a couple of years and we have the exciting mission of emulating it here in Watford. It is a fantastic opportunity for all the churches in Watford to come together to support the community and bless people in a practical, ‘hands-on’ way which communicates Christ’s love.

‘Brilliant!’ I hear you cry. ‘How do I get involved?’

Volunteer!

Key Dates are Thurs Dec 4th in the evening and Fri Dec 5th in the morning for assembling the hampers. This will take place at Soul Survivor's warehouse (Greycaine Road) and will involve putting things into hampers.

There's also delivering of the hampers around Watford on Friday 5th December and Saturday 6th December which would be great to get involved in.

If you are fit and able to do either or both and would like to be a part of Operation Rudolph you can contact us at: volunteer@christiansacrosswatford.org

Donate!

Secondly, donations. We’re working on collecting good quality products at the moment. We do however have a limited budget. The price of sponsoring one hamper is £25, however we’d love you to give what you can. Every penny really does make a difference. Alternatively club together with friends/families/passing circuses and sponsor a hamper together. Cheques can be made payable to 'Christians Across Watford' and sent to 83 Market Street, Watford, Herts. WD18 0PT.

Pray!

And last but by no means least, Prayer is essential to a project like this. Please pray for

  • Suppliers to be generous in giving good quality products.

  • A smooth and efficient operation

  • For the people who are receiving the hampers.

The first prayer meeting is on Wednesday 29th October at Watford Community Church, 83 Market Street, Watford.

Let's round the year of 'Hope 08' off with excitement, and bring hope onto the streets of Watford.
